Ok, this post, aptly named "A Week in Review," is going to probably show you just how boring my day to day life is ... especially considering the highlight of my week is a quiz on Sunday's where I barely participate, let alone speak. So, let me start with that quiz, Sunday is the first day of the week, after all.
Sunday, I got off work at 6:30am, went home for a while, then met some friends at a nice little hotpot restaurant between Xinghai Square (星海广场) and Peace plaza (和平广场). Being a hotpot restaurant that sells Hams Beer (黑省啤酒), we indulged a bit (read: more than a bit). Long story short, I wake up with a hangover ... and what do I do, take a shower and head to a bar (on an empty stomach) of course. Ok, I didn't go crazy at the bar, I actually sat through the entire quiz without drinking anything, water included. Unfortunately, I didn't eat anything either. The crazy thing is, my team won and our prize was a bottle of gin; now I have to drink, it's the rule, right. At the end of the night, I went to McDonalds for some much needed sustenance, then went home and managed to stay up for another 6 hours before going to bed. Actually, that's not a big deal, I'm getting pretty good at the 20+ hour days.
Don't worry, this isn't going to be a day by day synopsis, my life's not that interesting. I'll just hit the high points of this week.
Monday through Wednesday, I ate, slept, worked, and started the whole thing over ... yippee! Although, on a side note, there is a new person on my team who speaks Chinese which has really cut back on my work load. I really don't know what to think of this whole thing, I mean, I know I'm pretty good at my job, far from perfect, but pretty good, and since this new guy started, my question answering dropped significantly.
Thursday started much like the previous three days, however, while searching through the "top" apps in iTunes for my iPhone, I found one I just couldn't refuse ... World Series of Poker Hold 'em Legend. I'll be the first to admit, I love playing poker, but I only play with real money when playing with my friends ... there's something about giving my money to strangers that just doesn't sit right with me. Anyway, this game has all the things that real poker has, including the dumbass who's in every game who doesn't know when he/she should go "All in," so they just do it on EVERY FUCKING HAND!!! That aside, it's a damn good game.
So, back to my week. After work (technically Friday morning), I went out for breakfast with one of my coworkers. We ended up at the Amici in Software Park (软件园), which sucks compared to the others, so we went to Echo Coffee. Echo has surprisingly good pizza and cold Heineken or Corona ... usually. That day, the pizza was good, but they only had 1 cold Corona, no cold Heineken ... they did have about a dozen and a half cold piss lagers available (read: Tsing'dao).
The rest of the week I just worked, slept, ate, or a variation of the 3.
Pretty exciting, eh. So, what do I have in store for next week? I honestly don't know, I don't like planning more than a couple of hours in advance. Hey, I gotta keep some excitement alive in my life.
