I got home for a 3 week vacation on Tuesday night. It was a very unpleasant trip that started with 9 hours of work, moved on to the bumpiest, roller-coaster like flight I've ever experienced, and ended with me finally going to bed after being awake for 43 hours. It's all got better since I got here.
I'm only going to say 2 things about the trip that I haven't already said; one, I really do not like Newark's airport, Conan's not missing a thing by being put on Newark's no fly list by the mayor of Newark. It wasn't the cleanest airport I've ever been in, but that's not my complaint, the walkways are just too damn narrow. Two, Continental uses Red Hat for their inflight multimedia system, I thought that was pretty cool.
The first day back was pretty uneventful. I spent some time with the parents and grandparents, and set up WiFi in my parents house. The WiFi is awesome and my parents broadband is seriously giving me net-envy ... they get 12+ Mbps compared to the 2 Mbps I get back in China. Anyway, that allowed me to get out my MacBook and iPhone so I could catch up on my email, Twitter, and Facebook.
Day 2 included hanging out with my sister and her daughter at the movies. We watched The Last Airbender and I really enjoyed it. After that, it was to Wal-Mart for a fishing license.
Today, I went fishing with my grandfather. I love fishing. We spent 6 hours on the lake jigging off the bottom in search of some white bass. In addition to a nasty sunburn I got, my grandfather, his friend Larry, and myself reeled in 110 "keepers", fish big enough to keep ... that's 3 gallon sized bags of fish fillets. Later in the night, I got to take my first walk.
Here's the walk route, around almost the hole town and only a little over 3 miles.
