I Hate Being Sick

For the last 3 or 4 days, I've been sick. I've had a fever of as high as 38.4˚C (101˚F), runny nose, first a wet cough with lots of icky green stuff, now a dry cough, my knees have been killing me, and my backs been pretty tender. Some parts sound like a flu, others, like a common cold. I think it is just a common cold somewhat like the first one I had when I came to China almost 4 years ago except I had a fever over 39˚C. That fever was not fun, for 24 hours, I was in a constant state of dizziness, I'd walk into things, trip on the edge of a queen size bed, and have little black-outs if I got up too fast.

The worst part about this sickness has been the fear that it could be swine flu, but I awoke today with a normal body temperature and feeling pretty darn good. I've already called in sick for the night earlier this morning, but I feel like I could work a double shift right now, despite only getting about 8 hours of sleep spread out over a 14 hour period. I guess I'll just have to wait until tomorrow night and see if I feel well enough to get back to work.

I really hate missing days at work. No, I don't feel the place will stop functioning without me, I just don't like to use sick days. I get 15 sick days per year, most of my coworkers have already used their's, today will be my 3rd since October of last year. There are things that I absolutely refuse to miss work for like diarrhea, headaches, a cough, hangovers, basically anything where I don't have a fever or I'm not throwing up. That's a big change from when I was in college where I'd call in sick for a hang-nail.

Ok, enough for now. I'm going to watch a movie.
