My Early Years in China (Part 1 of 3)

I was thinking that I'd like to rewrite, or just copy paste some of my early experiences in China to here, so I went and found a few on a site I used to moderate, DalianXpat. There are 3, in particular, that I'd like to share with you. The first was written in January of 2007, but I believe the story I was writing about happened in December of 2006. It's a true story, and it's the only time it's happened to me, but it's left me constantly checking over my shoulders when I visit public toilets.

One night, I walked into a toilet at Shengli Square's underground shopping center. When I walked in, there were 2 people in there, one old man washing his hands, and another guy who had just entered a stall. I went to a urinal, started to do my thing, when I noticed the old man who had been washing his hands, was now standing shoulder to shoulder with me pretending to take a leak, although there were 3 other urinals he could have used. No big deal. Then I felt him push me a little, not away from him, but away from the wall. This creepy old man was trying to see... it. He wasn't even pretending to go anymore, he was standing on his tip-toes trying to see over my shoulder, between me and the wall, and occassionally pulling my shoulder trying to make me face him. Needless to say, I instantly froze up, instant performance anxiety.

Has anything like this ever happened to anyone else? I really didn't know what to do other than yell "kàn shénme?!?" at the guy, which is kind of like saying "What are you looking at." I actually didn't even think of doing that until after I had worked my way out of that maze of a shopping center and made my way to the KFC.

This was originally posted in a forum, so I asked the question because I was curious to how other people had handled it. I didn't get anything real useful from the forum, but one of my coworkers boyfriends gave me the perfect way to deal with this situation should it ever arise again. His advise was just turn to the guy and piss all over the front of him.
