Just a quick update on my experiences with OpenSUSE 11.0 thus far. It's buggy as hell.
First, I get update errors nearly everytime I boot the machine. For some reason, the OS isn't capable of recognizing all of the update sources on a boot, so I get an update error. I'm going to try to be patient and I'm just hoping that this is due to my Linux ignorance.
Second, when downloading large files, the system stops responding. Actually, this happens when I download large files (over 1GB), delete large files, or move large files around. For some reason, it seems the OS doesn't allocate memory very well, or at least that would be my diagnosis.
Other than that, it's beautiful, and, something Rick will like, bright green. The graphical interface is beautiful to look at and the installation is a snap. I'm going to be patient with it and give it some time to "mature."
Now, the 4th of July. This is the third 4th I've spent in China and each one gets harder than the previous. I miss the barbecue with the Dreslik's, the fireworks, and the day off from work. I hope that the celebration they have tonight is a good one and safe, and I hope that at least one of my friends remembers to have a beer for me.
