Paranoia

There's a Chinese news story, that's getting censored almost as quick as it's getting posted about a nuclear submarine in a port in Dalian that's sprung a radioactive leak.

If you search this 大连新建核潜艇发生核泄漏 in Google, you'll find some links that still open, but for most you'll have to check the Google cache.

The paranoia comes in with my wife. Wifey is now running around the house, calling everyone in her phone's contact list, and telling me she wants to go back to Shandong every 5 minutes. I've tried to tell her that we don't have to worry because we don't drink sea water, don't eat sea fish or seaweed, and it's been raining too much to go to the beach.

On the other hand, she's pissed that the news is being censored. She rightfully believes this is news that the public should have. I could argue that the local government doesn't want an irrational, frightened mob on their hands ... but on the other hand, this happened yesterday and a story, along with details and reasons not to worry, as well as any warnings, should have been written and put out for the public.
