I use Firefox, almost exclusively, for all of my internet needs. I like the rendering, the plug-ins, and the way it looks. I think, for work at least, the reason I like Firefox the most is the ability to set a proxy server independent from the Windows proxy settings.
Back when I was putting all my blogs on Windows Live Spaces, I wrote a few posts about how much I hate Microsoft and Windows. I know, I know, "Why are you writing how much you hate Microsoft and Windows in a Microsoft service?" Well, the answer is simple, I didn't have this website yet and Blogspot is intermittently (more often than not) blocked in China. So, anyway, I was writing about how much I hate Microsoft and giving examples of why I think Linux is superior.
Ok, I know I already wrote a little thing on my 32-bit Windows 7 Ultimate Beta test computer, but I just wanted to mention some of the programs I've tried and any problems I've had with them (or lack of).
PC Specs:
Intel Core Duo CPU 1.86GHz (E6300 Conroe)
2GB 667MHz DDR2 memory
160GB 7200RPM SATA HDD with 8MB cache
Real Alternatives 1.9.0 w/ Media Player Classic
Installed very easily and had no problems. Plays movies very well and takes videos that look VHS quality on my Linux install and makes them look almost DVD quality.
I just installed the Windows 7 Ultimate Beta on my old work computer earlier this week and I'd like to share my general impression of it thus far. Other than the fact that it has a pretty good looking Chess game built in (that consistently kicks my ass), I'd have to say it's Vista Service Pack 2. If I wanted to compare it to earlier Microsoft releases, I would say it is what Windows ME was to Windows 98.
