I have been playing around with Karmic Koala in Virtualbox for a couple of weeks now, and it appears that Canonical has dropped Pidgin from this update and replaced it with Empathy.
I was curious if Empathy was a superior IM client to Pidgin, so I installed it on my home PC and played around with it a bit. I've gotta say, I'm not impressed.
There's also a new addition called Ubuntu One which appears to be Canonical's answer to cloud computing. You can sign up for a free 2GB account, or pay $10 per month for 10GB. I haven't tried this yet, but it reminds me of Dropbox. I'll give it a try and post more about it later.
